CURRICULUM VITAE
I was born in Split on 5th May 1971. My father, being a Croat, and my mother, being a Slovene, gave me the opportunity to acquire two citizenships and to speak two mother tongues. After elementary school I finished science and mathematics program secondary school MIOC in Split. During my education I completed Naval College and graduated as Naval Engineer of naval traffic (B.Sc.), specialty in Governing marinas and yachts. Immediately after that I enrolled at and graduated from the University as dipl.ing ( M.Sc.) of Naval traffic, major in Maritime management. As part of my education I took classes in English and Italian, so along with Croatian and Slovenian, I have active knowledge of 4 languages. I got my doctor’s degree at University of Zadar after I had successfully defended my dissertation “Geographical Characteristics of Croatian Adriatic as Basis for Nautical Tourism Development”.
Knowledge acquired during years of competitive sailing and experience from sporting events and travels, especially my part in the organization and participation in the sporting-scientific expedition "Arctic-Antarctic" with trans-ocean sailboat "Hrvatska Čigra", I apply in the area of nautical tourism. Wanting to perfect my naval knowledge, I acquired title YACHT MASTER as the first generation of candidates organized by Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
In my work I apply quality control system according to ISO 9000:2000 standard, where I'm also Lead auditor - consultant, having completed education and acquiring practical skills at the Lloyd Register Certification Program.
As a proof to my competency and reliability I would like to mention that I am licensed assessor for the Tax and Duty of Republic of Croatia.
I present my practical skills and experience in nautical tourism by taking part in organization of European Congress of Nautical Tourism (Marina Frapa, 2002).
Besides above mentioned activities I'm also author of the government’s project "Development of Tourist Ports on Croatian Islands" in the position of professional consulter to the Ministry of Public Works, Rebuilding and Construction.
In February 2004 I took part in setting guidelines for creation of Strategy of Development of Nautical Tourism in the Republic of Croatia for the Ministry of Sea, Tourism, Traffic and Growth and as an adviser to the State secretary for sea, Mr. Branko Bačić.
In February 2005 I have been appointed as the attached member of the Board for Tourism of the Senate of Republic of Croatia with duties in organizing thematic meeting of the Senate relating to the nautical tourism, which was held on 4th June 2005.
In June the same year I have been appointed to the HGK board in project "Tourist Flower" on jobs assessing quality of Croatian marinas.
Starting 1st October 2005 I am executive director of the Government project "Study of the Nautical Tourism Development in Croatia" - project led by Croatian Hydrographic Institute, and team members from Institute for Tourism of Croatia, Urban Institute of Croatia, Institute for Oceanography and Fisheries and Naval College in Rijeka. The project was finished and delivered to the orderer in November 2006.
